Florida Off The Beaten Path | Holiday Builders

When living in a state where tourism is a mainstay, you become well-aware of the big-budget attractions that pull people into Florida from around the world. As wonderful as these attractions are, not all worthy destinations come with a hefty price tag. In this week's blog, we explore a few tourist-worthy stops off the beaten path.

Central Florida

Before we delve into tourist attractions off the beaten path, we'll start with one of the big boys. Disney World is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. The Magic Kingdom Park opened on October 1, 1971. The anniversary promotion and celebration runs for 18 months. The anniversary has garnered a lot of excitement from related industries. We love it that Southwest Airlines actually has a Boeing 737-700 that features anniversary logos of both Southwest Airlines and Walt Disney World Resort. The aircraft will fly through March of 2022. For ticket information for Disney World Resorts, visit their website.

North Central Florida

There's nothing better than dipping a toe, a foot, or your entire being into cool water on a hot day in Florida. Let's face it - most days are hot. You could go to the beach, or, you could do something uniquely Florida and tube down the Ichetucknee, a spring-fed river. It's a simple process. You can rent a tube from a number of roadside vendors. They'll drop you in the river at a designated spot. The current will pull you along until you reach the final spot and the bus takes you back to your car. It's full-on nature and it's fun. By the way, the correct pronunciation is "itchy-tuck-knee" and the springs are located near Fort White, Florida. For more information, visit the website.

South Florida

The Coral Castle is a different kind of theme park. There are no rides or concessions. What it is, is a series of unusual structures sculpted from limestone, built by one man between 1923 and 1951. It is said that Ed Leedskalnin knew the secrets used to build the great pyramids. All we do know is that he carved and moved these large rock sculptures by himself. Coral Castle is located near Miami in Homestead. For more information on visiting this park, see their website.

Central West

If you want to get away from it all, you can find one of Florida's untouched islands along the Gulf Coast just outside of Dunedin. Caladesi Island is accessible only by boat. There's a lot of exploring to do while on the island. You can rent a kayak, enjoy a quiet beach walk, or even rent a campsite. You can bring in your RV via Ferry. The island is near Dunedin, Florida.  For additional information on visiting Caladesi Island, visit their website.

Northwest Florida

Florida Caverns State Park is a place in Florida where you can literally "chill out". This Florida park offers dry caves and tours through 38 million-year-old formations including stalagmites, stalactites, rimstone pools, and "soda straws" all at a cool 65 degrees Fahrenheit - even on a hot day. The park is located in Marianna, Florida. For more information, visit their website.

Holiday Builders

Florida is a great destination for a vacation and more than ever, it's a great place to call home. We've been building new homes in Florida for the past 38 years. With more than 40,000 homeowners, we've had lots of opportunities to create an optimal buying and building experience for our customers. Our floorplans are time-tested. We know what works. We have an established history with vendors and trade partners on whom we depend. We are grateful for the longevity of these relationships. In this Covid-era of homebuilding when there are massive and unpredictable disruptions in the supply chain, we know our suppliers are doing everything they can to help us acquire needed materials to build homes.

Unlike other production home builders, we provide design options for our customers. Each homeowner has the opportunity to select a floorplan and personalize their new home with cabinetry, countertops, and flooring selections.  Plus, Holiday Builders provides each homeowner with a two-year new home warranty.
