Living InMilton
Charming, historic Milton is the county seat in Santa Rosa County located about 24 miles northeast of Pensacola. Milton was settled in the early 1800's and established as a town in 1884 - a year prior to Florida joining the United States as the 27th state. Like many northwest Florida towns, Milton is home to a military base - Naval Air Station Whiting Field. The Milton Riverwalk is a boardwalk with a gazebo running along the Blackwater River located in the historic downtown area and is a popular spot for community events and weddings. Grocery stores and daily needs are within reach and big box stores like Home Depot are in nearby Pace. Medical facilities include the Santa Rosa Medical Center, a 129-bed general hospital. Hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding and boating are all popular pursuits here in this peaceful town. The "Old Brick Road" - a six mile long, nine foot wide brick road built in 1919 still rambles along the new paved roads. Milton, Florida is the perfect setting for those seeking a small town feel with easy access to the city.
