Hastings is a peaceful and rural community in St. Johns County, Florida. It was founded by Thomas Horace Hastings, a cousin of Henry Morrison Flagler, who built hotels in St. Augustine and needed fresh vegetables for his guests. Hastings became known as the “Potato Capital of Florida” and also grows other crops like cabbage, onions and eggplant. If you love nature and farming, you’ll enjoy living in Hastings. You’ll also be close to St. Augustine, the oldest city in the U.S., and Lake Okeechobee, the largest freshwater lake in Florida.
