Why Central and South Florida Residents are Moving to Ocala
Ocala, Florida is a hot real estate market with an influx of new residents from South Florida and Central Florida. Holiday Builders has welcomed new homeowners from these regions in greater numbers than local moves within Ocala, or out-of-state buyers.
Homeowners selling out of higher-priced homes in South and Central Florida have high equity and more cash on hand. Consequently, these homebuyers have greater buying power to purchase homes in Ocala where home prices are still reasonable. As a result, home prices in Ocala will increase significantly over the next five years.
Beyond lower new home prices, why are so many people moving to Ocala? Ocala offers a quiet lifestyle with growing cultural options. The arrival of the World Equestrian Center in May 2021 boosted Ocala’s existing reputation as the “Horse Capitol of the World”.
Additionally, Florida’s Gulf and Atlantic coasts are within a two-hour drive. Daytona Beach is a straight shot east with a 1 hour and 40-minute drive. The Crystal River is about an hour’s drive to the west. The Crystal River is the perfect place for spotting manatees and enjoying watersports and is the gateway into Gulf Waters. Gainesville is a 45-minute drive and is famous as the home of the University of Florida and is also a great place to shop.
Ocala has a charming downtown area that boasts a town square surrounded by boutiques and restaurants. Of course, the area is rich in natural beauty with large Live Oak trees lining the roadways, and the occasional rolling hill. New residents are creating a growing and vibrant community.
