Lake Merial – A Beautiful Life

Our Melbourne-based marketing team took a field trip this week to Bay County, Florida to get a first-hand look at new communities. Our first stop was Lake Merial in Panama City. Lake Merial is an established gated community with a stately entrance. We pulled up, inserted our gate code and drove in.

Mature trees lined the main road. Impressive, well-manicured homes flanked both sides of the road. The neighborhood is gorgeous. We continued on to the new phase where we are building new Holiday Builders’ homes.

We have four homes currently under construction, two on either side of the street. With oversized lots, and landscaped medians, there’s plenty of room between homes and it feels spacious and clean. Holiday Builders offers nine Cornerstone floor plans ranging from 1,824 sf to 3,064 sf, including three to four bedrooms, two to three bathrooms and two to three-car garages.

Lake Merial, a 380-acre spring fed lake is visible from our new model site and provides a beautiful backdrop for the whole community. We walked to the shores of the lake and took photos of the beautiful water lilies along the banks. Residents enjoy paddle-boarding, kayaking and canoeing on the lake. Only non-electric boats are allowed to maintain the quiet comfort of residents and for minimal disturbance of wildlife. It’s common to see deer and beaver in Lake Merial. Large-mouth bass are present in the lake and popular with anglers.

The first homes in Lake Merial were built in the early 2000’s. Lake Merial is at the highest point in Bay County, so residents have no concerns about being in a flood zone at 70’ – 80’ above sea level. Grocery shopping at either Publix, Winn Dixie or Super Walmart is in nearby Lynn Haven. Lynn Haven is also the location of our new office so we headed south about 10 miles on Route 77 to check it out.

From Lynn Haven, it’s a short hop to Panama City Beach and we were all anxious to take a look at Gulf waters and visit Pier Park, a shopping and entertainment destination, right on the beach.

It was a relatively quiet late April day and there was plenty of parking at busy Pier Park. The weather was perfect for walking along the colorful shops. We chose Ford’s Garage for our dining experience and it did not disappoint. Afterwards we walked down to the beach and enjoyed the view of the turquoise waters and sugar-white sand.

It’s not surprising Panama City Beach is such a popular destination for people from all over the world. Its proximity to the quiet, suburban life in Lake Merial offers the best of both worlds. You can live a quiet, lake-inspired life and still be within a 30 minute drive to a Gulf-water paradise.

Next week – we’ll take a look at our other new community in Bay County, Salt Creek at Mexico Beach. Stay tuned! In the meantime, to learn more about Lake Merial, visit HolidayBuilders.com.
