Living in the Moment on New Year’s Eve

On the eve of a new year, we look back and we look ahead. The great thinkers remind us that the key to happiness is living in the moment. Maybe that’s why so many choose to revel in the gift of life by gathering and saluting the new year as it rolls in. If we only have the moment we’re in, what does that mean for us in terms of our homes? If you aren’t living in a home that at least meets your needs for safe shelter, clean water and access to employment, education and recreation, how do you get there? Improving our quality of life requires that the present moment be spent planning future steps.

Will 2026 be the year you finally make the move to Florida? Is it the year you’ll be able to move from your apartment into your first home? Is 2026 the year you’ll sell your current home and purchase one that is just a little bigger, or maybe a bit smaller? Is 2026 the year you’re going to purchase a new construction home because you’re exhausted keeping up with repairs on your older home? It could be any of these things, or none. But if your desire is to make big home changes in 2026, what are your first steps? Remember, we are living in the moment, using this time to improve our future. Writing down your goal is a great start. From there, your plan can form and unfold.

  • You’re moving from an apartment into your first home: What an exciting time. What is your budget and do you need financing? Visit our Lending Partner Coastal Loans, to find out about First Time Homebuyer programs and more.
  • You’re selling your current home to get one larger or smaller: What has to happen in your current home to get on the market and sold? While you’re getting things in order, start planning your new home’s furniture layout by using our interactive floorplans. It’s the perfect tool for figuring out what plan works for your lifestyle.
